He was a man who had no name and needed none. In a world with few people he was simply called "The Stranger". He was a loner, a hunter, and a mountain man. The day he met a scholar who read to him from a 200 year old western novel published in 1968, was the day that changed his life. He brought the scholar out of the wilderness, so the scholar could rebuild a world.

Nearly destroyed by enemy ships a man is burned, broken and his memory is gone. His only form of identification is a police badge and he finds that he is one of the galaxy's top police officers. His amnesia forces him to accept a supplemtary memory transfer from previously downloaded old memories, so he can complete his mission. The transfer wipes out all of his old memories, which is acceptable until he finds out the badge did not belong to him.
When a scientist spliced genes together randomly, rather than losing a contract on defective DNA, he knew he might be creating a monster capable of eating a group of Japanese tourists. But his monster turned out to be a 20 foot long dragon, who could capture hearts, rather than tourists.
In the distant future there is no more French Foreign Legion. Now you join the Remote Exploration Corps, where they stick your body in a fluid tank for three years and your mind operates a lifelike robot on a distant planet.
When his project supervisor decides to kill him, rather than being fired, Jack outwits him and survives. Then he becomes the sole thought donner for the new Demigod Computer which was designed to run the universe. The computer becomes him, and together they seek revenge, and have a little fun with their newfound power.
Being the outcasts of the space fleet, few people take notice when Black Wing is given every dirty job in the universe. But when aliens attack they become the sole salvation of mankind.
